Just as enchantingly snarky and happy, if also subversive as its pilot episode, ‘Showmance’ reintroduced the characters and scenarios, even though at this point, not having seen the pilot would be majorly difficult. The reintroduction was a little tiresome, but Glee got right back on track with’ Gold Digger.’ The group jamming away with Will ( Matthew Morrison ) was fantastic, but the musical number that was the best, was Rachel’s ( Lea Michele ) solo with ‘Take a Bow.’ upsetting and powerful, Lea Michele embodied the discomfort and hope of the teenager crush and why those teenage years hurt so badly, especially when it comes to love. The main group number tonight, ‘Push It’ was good, at times making me giggle and wish I had ever seen a high school show choir with that much bravery.
But watch Glee online for free I am inspired as to the remainder of the season. At that point, I feel we only know Finn ( Cory Montieth ) and Rachel, and now Quinn ( Dianna Agron ), who is shaping up as a amazing villain we like to hate along with Sue Slyvester, ( Jamie Lynch ) the delightful adult villainess, often referred to as the Cheerios coach. Will’s other half, Terri ( Jessalyn Gilsig ) does not have much personality beyond materialistic and wanting a baby rather hopelessly, but she needs more character. I felt that she showed a glimpse of humanity that had been lacking before.
So, showrunners, give her more, I would like to watch Glee online for free and a reason to believe that she and Will got together and stayed together this long for a reason. ‘Its not always about you’ was the lesson of the night. Will is making more sacrifices for his family, his other half is perhaps beginning to make sacrifices from what she would like and Rachel does not get the fellow and loses her solo. But on the other side of the coin, Quinn is beginning to get what she would like ( and has an ok voice that I’m not going to mind her addition to the club ), Finn is not forced to make any decisions and truly for Quinn and Rachel it’s all about him. Emma appears to be starting to move on except for her though she is resigned, it still is all about Will.
Oh and another note to the showrunners, don’t change Jamie Lynch’s character. At the moment she’s the best character on the show with possibly the best lines. Don’t change our villain, not yet anyway.
